3.                  Identified Concerns

Hester Huysamen stressed that not only are the patients confidentially a concern but also that of the service providers. She is concerned that funders are using clinical information linked it to financial information. Braam Volschenk advised that funders may only use information with the consent of a service provider. Elna Jooste raised the question on why funders only recommend service providers claiming scale of benefit. This will be discussed at the next meeting

4.         Patient Confidentiality

Document presented by Braam Volschenk on patient confidentiality, access to patient information and the use of the information. The document contains information on the following:

o        Child Care Act.

o        Aged Persons Act.

o        Medical Schemes Act.

o        Ethical provisions.

o        International References

Interested parties are invited to our next meeting to discuss issues such as obtaining consent to use patient information, whether identifiable data or not, as well as the confidentiality of information of service providers. Confidentiality issues need to be researched and guidelines drafted
